Harold Glenn Hanner Obituary

ROCKVILLE - Harold Glenn Hanner, 85, of Rockville, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

He farmed and had a dairy herd for more than 30 years. He was a welder with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 157 in Terre Haute. He was also along with his wife co-owner of Jackie's Rockville Flower Shoppe for many years. He was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Rosedale, to the late James O. Hanner and Gertrude Britton Hanner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Lee Hanner, on Nov.10, 2012.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie (Kevin) Swaim of Marshall; son, Jim Hanner of Terre Haute; six grandchildren, Jeremy Swaim, Kristin Leatherman, Alyssa Hanner, Natalie Hanner, Madison Hanner and Macy Hanner; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Hanner during World War II, Jay Hanner and Clelland J. Hanner; and one sister, Irma Newton.

He was a 1949 graduate of Marshall High School. He served with the U.S. Army for two years stationed in San Antonio. He was a member of the Marshall Federated Church, American Legion Fellenzer Post 48 in Rockville, and the Bloomingdale Masonic Lodge 127. He enjoyed airplanes and flying and owning his own two seater plane, and also an ultra-light that he assembled. He also enjoyed collecting clocks and even built a grandfather clock.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., with Pastor Brian Holt and Brother Don Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today.
