Glenn L. Harmless, 96, of Rosedale, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Exceptional Living Center of Brazil. He retired from the Rosedale Lumber Company with 20 years of service and was a self-employed handyman. He was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Parke County, to the late George Harmless and Myrtle Spriggs Harmless.

His wife of 73 years, Dorothy Taylor Harmless, whom he married May 19, 1943, passed away March 16, 2017.

Survivors include two sons, Ron (Mary Jo) Harmless of Terre Haute and Jim Harmless; one daughter, Carol (Dan) Creeden of Avon; one sister, Alberta Rayce of Clinton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in France fighting in the Battle of the Bulge with General Patton. He received the Purple Heart for his bravery. He was a member of Springbrook Community Church in Terre Haute. He was the founder and Scoutmaster of Rosedale Boy Scout troop 76. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with the Rev. Randy McPike officiating. Burial with military honors by Rosedale American Legion Tony Kashon post 290 will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
