DANA - George Michael "Mike" Myers, 64, formerly of Dana passed away Feb. 14, 2016, at his home in Fairfax, Okla. He fought a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was born July 1, 1951, in Terre Haute, to the late Martin and Sara Myers.

He attended Culver Academy and graduated from Montezuma High School. He was also a member of the Community Bible Church of Dana. After living in Indiana most of his life, he moved to Oklahoma in 1990, where he owned and operated Myers Operations, an oil production company.

His lifelong passion for horses continued until his death, owning five quarter horses. Mike was funny, ornery, had a big heart and showed tremendous bravery until his last breath on Valentines' evening.

He is survived by two sons, Andrew (Stephanie) of Mahomet, Ill., and Christopher (Amy) of Bismarck, Ill.; three grandchildren, Peyton, Taylor, and Kaitlyn; one sister, Andrea Myers of Terre Haute; his beloved cats Mickey and Minnie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jeffry.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today, Feb. 22, 2016, at Overpeck-Gooch Funeral home, 225 N. Maple St., Dana. Inurnment will follow in Newman Cemetery. Memorial visitation is from noon until services.
