Terre Haute, Indiana - TERRE HAUTE - Fred Farrand, 79, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on May 25, 2026.

He was born in the Terre Haute area to the late Earl and Lera Farrand and was a graduate of Honey Creek High School. Upon graduation, Fred married Johanna Wiltfang before being drafted into the US Army and serving in Vietnam.

Fred spent his career as a machinist primarily at General Foods in Lafayette, followed by Frito Lay in Frankfort from which he retired. Upon retirement, Fred enjoyed fishing, helping out with the McCutcheon High School Robotics team, and an occasional trip to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Johanna. He is survived by their three children: Kelly Nufer (Bret), Corey (Jennifer), and Jason; seven grandchildren: Hunter, Morgan, AnnaLaura, Landon (Vivi), Rylen, Emma, and Andrea; and his sister Pat Hunt (Jim). Fred was about to become a great-grandfather.

Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 pm at DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute with a burial to follow at New Harmony Cemetery.
