ROSEDALE - Everett E. Brown, 89, of Rosedale, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1926, in Fountain County, to the late Marvin K. Brown and Wannetah Riddel Brown.
He was employed by Quaker Maid in Terre Haute with 31 years of service, and Terre Haute Regional Hospital with 10 years service.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Hudson Brown; children, Suzanne Brown Rukes, Connie Jo Brown and David (Donna) Brown; sisters, Carroll Reynolds and Eunice Williford; brothers, Abilene Brown and John Brown; grandchildren, Lisa Rukes-Carr, Beth Rukes Kelley, Shane True, Danielle Archer Lemmons, Alyssa Barnes, Aaron Brown, Carla Brown; step-grandchildren, Nicole Jaloweic and Jamey Deener; nine great- grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Brown; brothers, Marvin Jr., Charles and Donald; and a sister, Barbara Garrett.
He was a 1944 graduate of Tangier High School. He was a member of the Rosedale United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the south Pacific. He was a member for more than 50 years and past commander of the American Legion Tony Kashon Post 290, in Rosedale, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Taylor Post 1752, in Rockville. He traveled to all 50 states during his lifetime.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, with Pastor Johnny K. O'Neal officiating, Burial, with graveside military honors by American Post 290, will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today. Friends may sign an online guest register at:
