Evelyn Crowder, 88, of Dana, Indiana, died at 8:42 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Harrison's Crossing in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was a homemaker and retired from Columbia Records in Terre Haute with 10 years of service. She was born April 29, 1928, in Estell, Oklahoma, to the late Paul Murphy and Lizzie Medearis Murphy. Her husband of 58 years, Samuel Crowder, whom she married Nov. 22, 1947, at Cates, died Oct. 17, 2006.
Survivors include one son, Ron Crowder of Dana; two daughters, Patty (Darrell) Laymon of Dana and Debbie (Jeff) Lang of Dana; two grandchildren, Jason Laymon and Jesse Lang; five great-grandchildren, Dakota and Danielle Laymon, Eva and Miles Lang, and Jackson Dean and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Burl and Paul Murphy; and a sister, Edna Miller.
She was a 1947 graduate of Kingman High School. She was a member of the Dana First Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 350 Auxiliary in Perrysville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Overpeck-Gooch Funeral Home, 225 N. Maple St., Dana, with Pastor Marc Loveland officiating. Burial will follow at Bono Cemetery, Dana. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Dana First Baptist Church, 301 N.
