Terre Haute, IN - Dorothy M. Scott, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in Union Hospital. She was born to John T. Dicks and Martha Gemmecke Dicks.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Long, Lynn Caudill, John Scott, Carol Clampitt, Carla Chambers, Susan Hooper, Nancy Curran, Barbara Thurman, Lisa Ridenour, John Dicks, and Karen Sills; sister-in-law, Rosann Campbell; and brother-in-law, Robert Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John W. Scott; her parents; and her siblings.

Dorothy was a teacher for the Vigo County School Corporation for 31 years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and attended St. Benedict Catholic Church; Vigo County Retired Teachers' Association; Wabash Activity Center where she was a line dance instructor for over 25 years; Beta Sigma Phi - Delta Upsilon Chapter; Newcomers and Friends; Lovely Ladies Red Hat Group; Friends of the Vigo County Library; member of OLLI; and a lifetime member of the Educational Heritage Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Todd Riebe officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 1, 2026 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Benedict Catholic Church, or Wabash Activity Center.
