Doris Lorene Jenkins, 94, a resident of Providence Healthcare Center, formerly of Clark County, IL, passed away July 17, 2022 at Providence Healthcare Center.

She was born Dec. 12, 1927 in Clark County, IL, the daughter of Harry and Bertha Ledermann Higginbotham.

She married Holland Gene Jenkins on Oct. 7, 1951 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2014. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Woodrow, Eugene, Russell and Gerald; and sisters, Eleanor, Ethel and Betty.

Doris worked at a fabric shop for years; she liked sewing and making a lot of her own clothes. She enjoyed singing, gardening, walking, and feeding the squirrels and birds, but most importantly she loved her family and they were very important to her.

Surviving are her sisters, Marjorie Moran of Romeoville, IL and Norma Wilhoit of Marshall, IL; her guardians, Terry and Tina Wilhoit; nephews, Larry Higginbotham, Jerry "Bub" Higginbotham, Dale Barkalow, Keith Barkalow, David Higginbotham, James Higginbotham, Jody Higginbotham, Steve Higginbotham, Dennis Higginbotham, Scott Higginbotham and Edward Wilhoit; and nieces, Ann Ward, Beverly Murphy, Donna Red and Gina Ellshoff.

Services in honor of her life will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Pearce Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Duke officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham, MD.
