Brazil, Indiana - BRAZIL - Donald Mattox, 84, of Brazil, passed away December 22, 2021.

He was born on April 27, 1937, in Vigo County to Herbert and Mary Ann (Hartmann) Mattox.

Following high school Donald pursued a career with the United States Air Force, where he was based at Hulman Field in Terre Haute. Donald retired from the Air Force after 36 years of service.

He was a member of the Lutheran church. He enjoyed restoring wrecked vehicles and carving model airplanes and cars. He was an avid bowler; he once bowled a 300. Another pastime was golfing with his Air Force buddies.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Mattox; and granddaughter, Iva Shay Clark.

Survivors include his children: Debra Allen (Jim), Lorrie Wood, Donald Steven Mattox (Kay); grandchildren: Cordell Allen, Bradey Allen, Tyler Mattox, Kelly Neff, Brandon Russell, Lindsay Jeffers, Joshua Wood, James Bruner, Justin Bruner, Sarah Lockard, Jedidiah Thomas, Brandy Thomas; stepdaughters: Kelly Nunn (Steve), Karla Thomas (Jerry), Kristy Smith; brother: Robert Mattox; sister: Anna Marie Sullivan. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 29 from 11 AM-1 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1 PM with burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Don's honor at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
