Terre Haute, IN - TERRE HAUTE - Dennis Lee Klingerman, 86, of Terre Haute (formerly of South Bend, IN) passed away peacefully in his residence at Harrison's Crossing on Saturday, November 29th, 2025. He was born July 11th, 1939, in South Bend to Clarence Burdell (Sam) Klingerman and Esther T. (Wynn) Klingerman.
Survivors include sons, Kevin Klingerman (Shelley) and Andy Myszak (Glenda); grandchildren, Quincey, Griffin, Harper, Andrew, and Whitney; sisters-in-law, Eva Horvath and Terri Foley; stepbrother, Charles Kern; and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years, Lynette Klingerman; daughter, Tracy Myszak; brothers, Richard Klingerman (Joanne) and Bruce Klingerman; sisters-in-law, Betty Shidaker, Mary Jane Feece, and Pat Dudeck; and brothers-in-law, Jim Feece, Norm Horvath, Bill Shidaker, and Skip Dudeck.
Dennis was a 1957 graduate of Greene Township High School in South Bend and spent the majority of his career working as a transportation director/rate analyst for Tucker Freight Lines, AM General and Whiteford Trucking.
He was a dedicated father and could often be found at his kids sporting events taking pictures, either in the stands at a St. Mary's Vikings basketball game, or in later years leaning on the fence down the right field line at Washington High School or Indiana State baseball games. One of his greatest joys was being with his grandchildren, often making the South Bend to Terre Haute drive to catch one of their concerts, plays, or sporting events; eventually moving to Terre Haute so he wouldn't miss anything. He loved to spend time with them and watch them compete.
Philippians 2:3-4 says "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of others." Dennis was a humble and generous heart, always put- ting others before himself. He preferred to do it behind the scenes, often embarrassed when he received recognition. His smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 15th, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN with services to immediately follow. Burial will follow in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the nurses at Harrison's Crossing and Gentiva Hospice who have shown such great compassion over the past few months.
