Dennis D. Garland, 64, of Terre Haute, went to be with his Savior on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Dennis was surprised by brain cancer, dying at home surrounded by his family.

He is survived by Elizabeth, his teenage sweetheart and wife of 43 years; daughter, Lisa Davis and husband Andy; son, Nicholas; grandson, Jonah Michael (Nick's son); his mother, Mary Marx; brother, Randy Garland; and nephews, Bobby Brown and Joshua Lang.

He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph; sisters, Carol and Gayle; brother, Max; and niece, Pamela Brown.

Dennis graduated from Wiley High School in 1970. In the Army, he was stationed in Germany and Korea, he was a life member at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. He earned a business degree at Indiana State University.

Dennis will be remembered for his thirst of knowledge, wanting others to know what he had learned and his charitable giving. He loved the Jewish people, studying the life, Torah and Bible Archeology for hours daily. He would suggest that you support CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center or the children's program at the Hebrew Congregation.

Much appreciation goes to Union Hospital, second floor East, VNA/Hospice of the Wabash Valley.

A celebration of life will be Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 7 p.m. at The Journey, 1313 Lafayette Ave., Terre Haute, with visitation from 6 until 7 p.m.
