Delvin Gene Pittman, 77, of Paris, Ill., passed away at 7:15 a.m. EST Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was retired after working several years as a lineman for C.I.P.S. He was born May 1, 1940, in St. Francisville, Ill., the son of the late Ernest E. Pittman and Edna R. (Knoblett) Pittman.

He married Louanna K. Houser on March 31, 1958, in Olney, Ill. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 1999. He then married Wanda Sanders on Dec. 18, 1999, in Decatur, Ill., and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Darrell (Shelley) Pittman of Paris; two daughters, Deborah (Michael) Graves and Rhonda Baker, all of Paris; a brother, Ron (Diane) Pittman of Greencastle, Ind.; a sister, Velda (Max) Balding of Olney; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Brown; two brothers, Max Pittman and Richard Dwight Pittman; a grandson, Derrick Pittman; and a great-grandson, Holden Hefner.

Gene was an avid late model dirt track racing fan. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, going to auctions, and watching Indiana University basketball games. Above all else he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Services celebrating his life will be conducted 11 a.m. CST Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Templeton Funeral Home, in Paris. Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services Saturday, at the funeral home. For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
