Mecca, Indiana - MECCA - David Russell Sanders, 63, of Mecca passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute. He was a retired lab technician for Duke Energy. He was born December 22, 1957 in Clinton, Indiana, to the late Dan Sanders and Loretta Williams Sanders.

His wife of nine years, Debbie Graham Sanders, whom he married September 24, 2011 in Mecca, survives. Other survivors include one son, Kurt (Kayla) Sanders of Mecca; one daughter, Kimberly (Lynn) Irwin-Sanders of Brownsburg; three sisters, Cathy Evans of Mecca, Karen McCulley of Torrington, Connecticut, and Dana Kiger of Clinton; one brother, Doug Sanders of Clinton; and four grandchildren, Emily Olson, Kayleigh Sanders, Lynlee Irwin and Lukas Sanders.

He was a 1976 graduate of Montezuma High School. He was a member of the Mecca Christian Church, Masonic Lodge #19, Scottish Rites and Zorah Shirners of Terre Haute. He enjoyed playing the drums at church and in local bands.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Tim Guoli officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gooch Funeral Home. Online Condolences may be shared at:
