Howard Howard Howard Dardeen

GREENWOOD - Charles "Howard" Dardeen went home to be with Jesus on May 5, 2025. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Rose and George Dardeen.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol; his sons, Sean (wife Sunni) Dardeen and Dax Dardeen; his grandchildren, Ethan (24) and Bella (17); and special friend, Donna and her kids, Chase and MacKenzie. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who lived with deep love and unwavering faith.
A gifted athlete, Howard was a standout basketball player at Terre Haute Gerstmeyer High School, where he served as senior class president and was honored as an Indiana All-Star. He continued his athletic and academic career at Indiana State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in 1962 and his Master's degree in 1965.
Howard began his professional journey as a teacher and basketball coach at Indianapolis Manual High School, serving from 1962 to 1972. He later founded a successful insurance business and worked faithfully in that field for 35 years until retirement.
A man of deep Christian faith, Howard worshipped and served for over 40 years at both Indianapolis Baptist Temple and Emmanuel Church in Greenwood. His life was marked by kindness, strength, and a commitment to helping others.
Howard's legacy is one of love - for his family, his Lord and Savior, and the many lives he impacted through teaching, coaching, and friendship.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline

Orders placed in:

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
