Terre Haute, Indiana - TERRE HAUTE - Carol A. (Bedwell) Smith, 81, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away with her family by her side, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus Assisted Living in Terre Haute.

Born November 23, 1943, in Green County, she was the daughter of Robert Lee and Eva Mae (Griffith) Bedwell.

Before she was married, she was a waitress for Liston's restaurant in Blackhawk. Once Carol had children she spent her years as a stay-at-home mom, her favorite and most rewarding job. She also volunteered at Riley Elementary School while her children attended there. She worked at the County Market Deli, and she was also a 4-H leader.

She was a member of the Blackhawk Community Church.

She enjoyed many years being involved with Pierson Township's 4-H Club and the Vigo County Fair. She was known for her baking, Christmas candies and ceramics.

Survivors include her son Rob Smith (Mary Ann) of Saint Paul, IN, and her daughter Tracie Land of Lafayette, IN; three granddaughters Kelcie (Jeff) Wolboldt of Greenwood, IN, Erika Smith of Waldron, IN, Claire (Max) Thompson of Saint Paul, IN; two grandsons Ben Land of Lafayette, IN, Derick (Tanya) Land of Terre Haute, IN; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Alice Bedwell of Linton, IN, Sharon Thompson of Farmersburg, IN, Karen Love or Naturita, CO; brothers Larry Bedwell of Dugger, IN, Bill Bedwell or Patoka, IN, Rich (Red) Bedwell of Coalmont, IN, and Randy Bedwell of Linton, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gail Smith; infant son; both parents; brothers Robert Dale Bedwell, Tom Bedwell and John Brown; sisters Betty Robertson, Kate Cutwright and Sarah Lockhart.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Pastor Jeff Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00a.m. until service times. The family would like to thank Cobblestone Crossings Assisted Living, Heart to Heart Hospice, and ESPECIALLY Brandy and Ashley for the care Carol received. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
