Indianapolis, Indiana - INDIANAPOLIS - Bradley Eric Lorton, age 71, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Brad was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Bradley E. and Virginia R. Kivell Lorton. Brad graduated from Terre Haute North High School. He graduated from Indiana State University with bachelor's and master's degrees in Economics. He worked for the U.S. Department of Labor, Naval Avionics, and Raytheon, now the RTX Corporation. He retired as a Utility Analyst for The Office of Utility Consumer Counselor for the State of Indiana.
Brad championed people's rights, social issues, and economic development. He was a founding member of the Indiana Chapter of the DSA. He supported many important political and civic causes - often serving as a voice for human rights. Brad also played the guitar with the following bands: Faultline, Chasing Shadows, Highway 9, and Rock Hard. He composed several original musical pieces. Brad loved rhythm and blues, and hard rock music; especially enjoying guitarist Richie Blackmore and Deep Purple. His hobbies included photography, auto racing, and cycling. He was an animal lover; especially his Shelties. He attended 50 Indianapolis 500 Races at the Indiana Motor Speedway. Brad loved to watch old movies and television shows. One of his favorites was Dark Shadows. He often remembered so many outrageous expressions and shared humorous life lessons by actor Red Fox from TV's Sanford and Son. He loved his dogs.
Brad is survived by his ex-wife, Laurie Lorton, and friends.
He will be buried next to his parents and grandfather in Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana. There will be a funeral Mass and a celebration of his life with a jam session by his former band mates, honoring his memory at a later date.
