Bill L. Davis Obituary

Bill L. Davis, 78, and a lifelong resident of Parke County, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018, after a valiant battle against cancer.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Before retirement, he was the production manager at Wabash Fibre Box, employed for 43 years. Bill was an outstanding athlete, excelling at basketball and baseball. Later in life, golf became his sport of choice with multiple holes-in-one on area golf courses. More recently his retirement years were spent farming with his son, Darrek, and Bradley Stone.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Shew) Davis. He was the Dad to Stacie (Kevin) Marlin, Tracie (Steve) Yelich, and Darrek (Valerie) Davis. Bill was the proud grandfather of Stephanie Marlin Arnold (Scott), Marissa Marlin Trout (Philip), Kristin Marlin Souder (Codee), Sara Yelich Miller (Billy), and Adam "Bo" Yelich. Three great-grandsons, Colton, Clayton Jax and Cason Souder brought many laughs and smiles to "Gwampas."

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Davis; and his sister and brother-in-law, Darla and Mike Eslinger.

He also is survived by nephews; a niece; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Joyce Shew; and other extended family. He also leaves behind his "faithful companion," Marley the dog.

Services will be 2:30 pm Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with the Rev. Donna Hardesty officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation is from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at: www.goochfuneralhome.com.
