Antonio (Tony) Miranda, 79, of Terre Haute, was born into eternal life Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, after a courageous 10+ years of living with kidney failure.

Tony was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Pangasinan, Philippines, to Martin Dizon and Leonor Oboza Miranda. He moved to Terre Haute in 1968. He earned bachelors and master's degrees in business from Indiana State University.

Papa is survived by Fe E. Miranda, his wife of 55 years; daughter, Leonora (Stephen) Clark of Dayton, Ohio; and two sons, Victor (Julie) Miranda and A. Martin (Amy) Miranda of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, Kirsten Clark Delamarter, Kelsey and Joel Clark and Julien, Victoria, Aaron, Trinity, Sophia and Isaac Miranda; one sister, Anita (Donald) Manzanares-Westerfield; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Remedios Llamas and Lourdes and Josephine Miranda.

Sati Babi® Inc., the business he founded in 1973, and helped to run until his death, was second only to family and friends in being dear to his heart. Tony was the visionary and heart of Sati Babi® Inc., which has become a well-loved Indiana tradition.

He was a person who truly knew how to enjoy life. He loved visits to his native Philippines (where a part of his heart always resided), being outdoors and near the ocean, fishing, gardening, eating, music and dancing, pets, swimming (competitive butterfly stroke) and diving, playing the harmonica, being with his grandchildren, watching scary movies and making and selling Sati Babi®.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph University Parish (113 S. 4th St.) with Friar Mark Weaver O.F.M. Conv. Celebrating. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until services.
