Annabelle Robertson, 90, of Newport, passed away at 11:33 a.m. EST Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton. She was born May 17, 1925, in Klondyke, Ind., the daughter of the late Clarvle and Nine Hines Wallace.

Annabelle married Billy Joe Robertson on July 27, 1962 in Newport and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2010.

Survivors include three sons, James (Jane Burke) Fortner of Madison, Wis., and Dan (Peggy) Fortner and Glenn Robertson, both of Newport; stepdaughter, Lucinda Soweers of Newport; two stepsons, Steven (Brenda) Robertson of Cayuga and Donn (Donna) Robertson of Newport; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Annabelle also was preceded in death by her son, Mark Fortner; stepson, Paul Robertson; sister, Edna; and three brothers, Orval, Raymond and Woody Wallace.

Annabelle was a member of the Newport Church of God and Newport American Legion Auxiliary Post 184. She attended Klondyke School from 1931-1935, then Fairview Park from 1936-1937. Annabelle than moved to Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1942. She worked for 27 years at the Vermillion County Courthouse. The last 10 years she was privileged to serve as county auditor.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, Feb.17, 2016, at DeVerter Funeral Home, in Cayuga, with Pastor John Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, in Newport. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Condolences:
