William "Bill" Hayne, 78, of Terre Haute passed away on April 27,2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Bill retired from Wabash Fibre Box. Bill was born Nov. 30, 1938, to Howard and Edna Hayne in Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Jo Hayne; his parents; and his best buddies, Duffy and Gabriel.
Bill is survived by his companion and loving caregiver, Libby Harding; his children, William Jeffery Hayne (Kristy) of Alabama, Howard Scott Hayne (April) of Terre Haute, and Amanda Hope Hayne of Avon; four grandchildren, Ryan Hayne, Nikolaus Hayne, Alexandria Hayne, and Maxwell Hayne of Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Cristian Hayne and Brody Hayne of Alabama. Also surviving are his sister, Barbara Chalfant of Terre Haute; and nieces, Debbie Brenton, Kim Slaven and Cathy Weaver; as well as several cousins.
Bill also leaves behind two special people in his life that he considered family, Tonyia Corbin Cottom and Chima Sue Chickadaunce.
Bill enjoyed Indy Car and NASCAR racing, loved driving his jeep, fishing and woodworking. He especially loved helping others in any way he could and telling stories.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his very special niece, Cathy Weaver. She was always there for Bill providing comfort and care, especially during his illness.
A committal service will be Saturday May 6, 2017, at 1 p.m., at the Chapel of Memories at Roselawn Memorial Park, with the Rev.Larry Lilly officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday Ma y6, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
