Warren "Gig"'s Story
Warren "Gig" Allen Edwards Jr., 74, of Terre Haute passed away July 15, 2017, at 12:20 p.m. in his residence surrounded by family. He was born Dec. 24, 1942, to Warren Edwards Sr. and Margaret E. Webster Edwards.
He was a member of the Prairie Creek Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Gig was a police officer for the Terre Haute Police Department serving for 34 years. He was also a member of the Mason's. Gig was a Shriner, and was involved in transporting children to and from the Shriner's Hospital. He was an avid motorcyclist, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to vacation in Florida, because he loved the beach. He loved racing in all aspects; his passion was Formula 1 racing. He loved to golf, and to watch football. He was a true fan of whatever activity his grandkids were involved.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; and a brother, David Lee Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Edwards, whom he married in April 2003; a son, Kevin Edwards and his wife Carrie; stepson, Will Adams and his wife Katie; stepdaughters, Chandra Padgett, and Nikki Weir and her husband Travis; grandchildren, Ben, Sam, and Alexis Edwards, Tyler Dobbins, Kirsten Padgett, Rowdy, Cody, Luke and Mia Adams, Zack, and Nathan Weir.
Services for Gig will be Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 5 p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute. A visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. If friends so desire, contributions can be made to the charity of their choice.
