Wanda M. McBride, 95, of Jasonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, in her residence. She was born Feb. 4, 1922, in Jasonville, to Jesse K. Shacklett and Georgia M. (Rumple) Shacklett, the first of four children.
Survivors include her sons, Robert (Linda) McBride of Jasonville and Jan McBride of Bedford; grandchildren, Michael McBride, Stefanie (Eric) Calvert, Shannon (Tom) Graves, Jenni (Jason) Beeler; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Tharen Burris of Evansville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, James Haley; brother, Russell Shacklett; sister, Virginia Jaskowiak; ex-husband and father of her children, Wayne McBride.
After graduation from Jasonville High School in 1940, she worked as a telephone operator and manager for Indiana Bell and GTE before her retirement. Wanda was a devoted member of the Jasonville Assembly of God Church, where she was active in the church's prayer ministry. Her love of the Lord, His Word and family were central to her life as a Christian.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian St., Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at Jasonville Assembly of God Church; 339 West Main St. Funeral Services will immediately follow Visitation is 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at the church with Pastor Sam Bush officiating.
Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Wanda to the charity of your choice to help the victims of hurricane Harvey.
