Velma J. Shannon, 78, of Clinton, died in her residence, Friday, Aug. 25, 2017. She was born April 6, 1939, in Bloomingdale, to Hubert McMasters and Margaret Brower McMasters.
She had retired from the Clinton Post Office. She was a member of the AMVETS of Rockville and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Clinton. She was an avid euchre player.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William J. Shannon Sr.; two sons, William J. Shannon Jr. and Steve Shannon; and one brother, CJ Yurchis.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Sprouls and Kelly Stevens, both of Clinton; one stepdaughter, Connie and John Sprinkle of Covington; eight grandchildren, Amy McMullen, Libby Reel, Chris Wood, Dusty Wood, Kyle Shannon, Ryan Stevens, Joshua Stevens and Adam Stevens; several greatgrandchildren; one sister, Sandy Mankin of Clinton; one brother and sister-in-law, Max and Joanne McMasters of Mooresville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Wendy Shannon of Clinton; sister-in-law, Maris Shannon of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, cremation was chosen. There are no visitation or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Frist Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at:
