Thomas Blain Rhodes, 89 of Paris, Ill., passed away at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall, Ill. Born April 27, 1928, in Moultrie County, Ill., he was the son of the late Blain Frank Rhodes and the late Dortha Anita (Travis) Rhodes. He married Mary Jane (Sullivan) Rhodes on Nov. 12, 1949, in Hume, Ill., and she survives.
Mr. Rhodes was a farmer, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Knights of Columbus Council 860, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly 219, Elks BPOE 812, Edgar County Farm Bureau, and was formerly on the Edgar County Board.
Survivors include seven children, Joseph L. Rhodes and his wife Donna of Fishers, Ind., Marian T. Lietard of Danville, Ill., Martin T. Rhodes and his wife Anita of Paris, Robert S. Rhodes of Lillie Lake, Ill., Louis M. Rhodes and his wife Kathy of Champaign, Ill., Bernard B. Rhodes and his wife Teri of Zeigler, Ill., and James A. Rhodes of Johnson City, Ill.; one sister, Martha Carr of Villa Grove, Ill.; one brother, Jackie Rhodes of Yuma, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Tipsword.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be announced at a later date. Interment is private. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
