Suzanne Montgomery (née Nicaud) passed peacefully into Heaven from her home in Terre Haute, on June 21, 2017. She was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Limoges, France, lived in Paris and, briefly, Wiesbaden, Germany, before entering the U.S. in New York City with her daughter and (former) Air Force husband in July 1955.
Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Morris Rudy Montgomery.
She is survived by daughter, Suzanne J.E. (Kittlesen) Tourtillott of Asheville N.C.; son, John C. Kittlesen of Austin, Texas; stepdaughter, Denise Matos of Port Reading, N.J.; stepsons, Montie Montgomery of Turnwater, Wash., and Theodore (Teddy) Montgomery of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren.
Relocating from the Southwest U.S., Mrs. Montgomery and family moved to Terre Haute in 1965. She worked as a waitress for The Terre Haute House and Holiday Inn. Having trained as a seamstress in Paris, she established a successful sewing and alterations business at home, after retirement. She was a lifelong reader and self-taught learner, a lover of life, intelligent, brave, and funny. Mrs. Montgomery remained a citizen of France.
Graveside services will be at Roselawn Memorial Park on Friday, June 23, 2014, at 10 a.m. Roselawn Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at:
