Russell Boatman, 90, of Brazil, passed away May 18, 2017, at Cloverleaf Health Care in Knightsville. He was born May 19, 1926, in Vigo County, the son of Gordon and Ruth (Wheat) Boatman.
He graduated from Otter Creek High School. Russell enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II as a Seabee. As a civilian he worked for Ethyl Visqueen in Terre Haute. He married Betty Krider, who preceded him in death.
In his free time he enjoyed traveling and going to state parks.
In addition to his wife Betty Boatman, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Ruth Boatman; two sisters, Dorothy Murphy and Maxine Lemmons; and a brother, Don Boatman.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Charles G. Galloway and wife Jan, Donald Murphy of Bellville, Ill., Dale Lemmons of Rosedale, and Janice Craft and husband Fred of Dana; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family members.
