Royal's Story

Royal Lee Denton, 68, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017, in Union Hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1948, to William Prentice and Catherine (Coffey) Denton, in Euporia, Miss.
He worked for nine years at Federated Metals in Whiting, Ind. He also was a manager for 25 years at the Car Care Center in Gary, Ind.
"Roy" as he was affectionately called was married to Jean O'Neal for 11 years and unto this union they were blessed with four children. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was loved by many and was always straight forward and comical. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and shooting pool.
He is survived by his four children, Danielle (Nathaniel) Johnson, LaKesha Denton, Robert (Sade) Denton and Felix (Alicia) Denton; grandson, Antowane Simmons Jr.; four brothers, David Earl (Kathy) Denton, William Prentice Denton Jr., Charles Denton and Danny Denton; four sisters, Dorthy Jean Bean, Minnie Ree Holmes, Katherine Quinn and May Hazel Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial service is 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 2415 8th Ave., Terre Haute. Please send condolences and flowers to the church. Arrangements by Carmichael Funeral Services. Online condolences may be made at:
