Ronald (Ron) Wayne Keen, 66, of Carbon, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 3, 1950, in Clay County, to James and Eva Keen.
Ron graduated from Brazil High School in 1968 and worked as a general contractor for many years. Later in his life, he found a passion for law enforcement and served as the assistant jail commander for the Clay County Sheriff's Department. Additionally, he served as the Carbon Town Marshal for the last 17 years. Ron loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending time with family. He was a member of the Blue Knights law enforcement motorcycle club and attended the First Baptist Church in Brazil.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eva Keen; his paternal grandparents, Allen and Era Keen; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Vera Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Keen; his son, Shawn Keen and wife Shelly; his son, Mathew Keen; his stepson, David Edington; his brother, Jim Keen and wife Regina; and his sister, Penny Siegelin and husband Mark. Ron also is survived by his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at First Baptist Church, 413 S Walnut St., Brazil. A celebration of life services will follow at 7 p.m. in the church Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Clay County Humane Society.
