Ronald's Story

Text size

Ronald R. Barnhart, left this earth to drive his semi in the sky on April 4, 2017. Ron was born Feb. 13, 1936, to Sadie and Clint Barnhart.
He was very proud of graduating from Garfield High School in 1954. It was while attending there that he met some very special friends, Bill (Margo) Murray and Skip (Linda) Lenne. The three were often times called three peas in a pod. Ron also met and dated Shirley Laughrey Vester while at Garfield. They later reconnected and were a couple for the last 16 years of his life.
Ron worked for his parents at All Valley Meat Supply in Burnett, and later began his own business with a small dump truck. He then went on to drive for Bringwald, and then went out on his own as Barnhart Trucking. Ron also was a diehard Cubs fan and loved dachshunds.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Erma Maners Barnhart; a stepson, Mark Criss; a brother, Robert; and a nephew, Butch; and his "almost" daughter, Holly Carlson.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Rayetta Clem of Clinton and Rhonda Taylor (KM) of Bargersville; grandchildren, Darci Watson (Darrell), Kaycie Clem, Travis James, Kellie Upperman (Dayne), and Matti Taylor; and great-granddaughter, Rylee. He also is survived by his special significant other, Shirley Vester; another "almost" daughter, Brenda Bonine; Brett Gilmore, that he thought of as a son; and his surviving "almost" grandchildren, Gretchen, Harlie, and Peyton Bonine and Lauren Carlson and Lee (Jay) Rogers. He also was very proud to have been a major part of Talan and Charlee Rogers, his "almost" great-grandchildren. As well as the other two peas of the pod, Bill Murray and Skip Lenne; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen. Ron's ashes will be buried in Roselawn Cemetary. A celebration of life will be held May 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the old Sandcut Firehouse. All friends and family are welcome to attend and share stories, and to say "10-4 Money Bags!" Greiner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
