Robert Donlin Myers, 70, of Clay City, passed away on July 13, 2017, peacefully, at his home.
He was born on May 30, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Charles William and Mary Alice (Fisher) Myers. In 1965, he graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. He served four years with the United States Air Force as sergeant. He then served two years in the Air National Guard. After the military, he worked as a custodian for Riley Elementary School. He then retired after 30 years of enjoying his work.
In his spare time, Robert loved spending time with his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, fishing and bird hunting. Robert was a John Wayne enthusiast. He was also a member of the Riley VFD.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christina Myers; and infant brother, James Martin Myers.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Sims (David Pittman); grandchildren, Samantha Powell (Anthony) and Ashley Glass; great-grandchildren, Makaitlyn Champion, Nevaeh Lynch and Brayson Powell; brothers, Jeffrey Myers and Michael Myers; sisters, Karla Armstrong and Connie Fisher; a special friend and neighbor, Kathy Stephens, and her son, Anthony, and his children; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. Eighth St., Clay City, Indiana. Per his request, cremation will follow. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Post a note of condolence at:
