Robert Allen Furnas, 77, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Union Hospital.
He was born April 26, 1939, in Terre Haute, to Argo Furnas and Alta Newton Furnas.
Bob served in the United States Army. He was a carpenter and a member of the Local #133. He was a member of the Mount Aetna Baptist Church and a former member of the Terre Haute Lions' Club. Bob designed and built the tomb where "Stiffy Green" resides.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Jean Furnas and Ruth Rooksberry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Church Furnas, whom he married Sept. 24, 1966; his son, Robert Furnas II; and his daughter, Christina Barton. Bob is also survived by his six grandchildren, Cassandra Garred, Brittany Garred, Dylan Furnas, Levi Garred, Amandalynn Furnas and Garrett Frye; and four great-grandchildren.
In honor of Bob's wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Mount Aetna Baptist Church, 8055 Jones Road, Terre Haute, Indiana. The Rev.
