BRAZIL - Robert Lee Braun Sr. 92, of Brazil, passed away Aug. 26, 2017, at Meadows Manor East in Terre Haute. He was born in Terre Haute on Dec. 14, 1924, to the late Ernest O. Braun and Julia Grace (May) Braun. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1942, and and was married to Helen Felling on April 6, 1947.
Robert began his career in the military with the U.S. Army. He served during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge and in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star along with many other commendations throughout his career. He retired with the rank of Chief Warrant 4 in 1972.
He was a member of both the American Legion and the Free and Accepted Masons. He was an avid golfer and received a hole-in-one certificate while stationed in Germany. He also received an Amateur Super Senior Golf Champion award in 1995.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Helen Braun; three brothers, Ed Braun, Bill Braun, and Junior Braun; and five sisters, Virginia Galbraith, Mary Shutte, Sharon Lynch, Delores Swenson, and Juanita Braun.
Survivors include a son, Robert Lee (Debbie) Braun of Terre Haute; daughter, Debbie (David) Cox of Avon; sister, Shirley McAnally of Hymera; grandchildren, Derek Braun and Nicholas Cox.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date, Moore Funeral Home, in Brazil, was entrusted with his cremation arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at:
