Robert L. Bousman, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 12, 1936, in Terre Haute, to James and Catherine (Gregg) Bousman.
Robert is survived by his children, Cathy Williams and husband John Sr. of Terre Haute, Madeline Kelley of Michigan, and Faith Herrick and husband Patrick of Brazil; grandchildren, John Williams Jr. and wife Tiffiany of Terre Haute, Christina Cartwright-Cherry and husband Chris of Michigan, Robert Kelley and wife Sara of Texas, Elizabeth Kelley of Texas, and Allison Herrick of Brazil; great-grandchildren, Da'May, Cheyenne, Travis, and two more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Skanes) Bousman; and sister, Sally Coffenberry.
Robert was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office and retired after 46 years of service.
He loved working in the yard and tending to his flowers. The neighborhood birds and squirrels never went hungry because Robert always kept their feeders full. He enjoyed watching Colts football and Pacers basketball. Robert was a wonderful dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
Robert's family would like to thank Rose Marie Westberry for being an amazing caretaker to Robert, and the staff of Southern Care Hospice for their compassion and kindness during his final days.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, in Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating and military honors performed by American Legion Post 104.
