Robert Warren Boatman, 92, of Rosedale, passed away at 5:54 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Exceptional Living Center in Brazil. He was a truck driver and auto body mechanic all his life. After retirement he drove for Homes Express in Brazil. He was born Aug. 14, 1925, in Hartford City to the late Delmar Boatman and Emma Warren Brackett Boatman.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Eileen Ruth Hines Boatman, whom he married Nov. 4, 1950, in Brazil. She is a lifelong homemaker. Also surviving are his children, Kenneth R. (Janet) Boatman of North Terre Haute, Nancy (Kim) Jones of Pearce, Ariz., Jerry Bob Boatman of Rosedale, Deborah (Scott) Lewis of Mitchell and Rob (Ruth) Boatman of Brazil; sister-in-law, Betty Boatman of Brazil; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Woodrow Boatman.
After high school, he joined the Army Air Corps serving two years in Guam. During this time he worked on many Boeing B-29 planes including the super fortress bomber Enola Gay. He attended the Assembly of God Church. He loved the Grand Old Opry and the town of Rosedale.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with Pastor Mary Miller officiating. Burial will follow with military graveside honors by Tony Kashon American Legion Post 290 in Rosedale Cemetery. There will be a dinner following services at Rio Grande Full Gospel Church.
