Norma Maxine Smith, 95, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, in her daughter Linda and son-in-law Ray's home, where she resided. She was born on March 9, 1922, in Terre Haute, to Frederick and Bessie O'Dell.
Norma was a homemaker, raising five children, and loved to go to garage sales and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member and past president of American Legion Auxiliary Service from Post 104, and the 8 and 40 LaFemmes.
Surviving are five children, Jackie (Paul) Slater, Susie (Marty) McCarty, Mike (Beverly) Smith, Charlene (Sam) Forsythe and Linda (Ray) Hollingsworth; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Vivian O'Dell and Marilyn Criss.
Norma was preceded in death by her best friend, and loving husband, Charles Murphy Smith; her parents; two brothers, Donald and Jack O'Dell; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Roselawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Moody officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the funeral home, with an American Legion Auxiliary service from Post 104 at 7 p.m.
