Millola Marie Horton, 89, of Clay City, passed away Feb. 28, 2017, at Springhill Village in Terre Haute. Millola was born July 20, 1927, in Howesville, the daughter of the late Cloise and Helena (Sinders) Mishler.
She graduated from Coalmont High School and Smart Appearance Beauty College. Millola was a beautician in Worthington and Clay City before opening a salon in her home on the Clay/Owen County Line. She served a large clientele for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John H. Horton Sr., who passed away June 16, 2006.
Millola was a member of Union Chapel Church of Nazarene, Clay City Order of Eastern Star, Clay City VFW Post 6606 Ladies Auxiliary, and 21 Club. She also enjoyed traveling within the United States and abroad.
She is survived by her children, Janice M. Steuerwald (Victor) of Terre Haute and John H. Horton Jr. (Luann) of Clay City; grandchildren, Jayme Wasserstrom (Michael) of Westfield, Rob Horton (Resa) of Clay City, Casey Horton (Jennifer) of Clay City, Thomas Rea (Christina) of Clay City; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ben Wasserstrom, Mason and Grant Horton, Bryce and Bryar Horton, Kennedy and Marley Rea; siblings, Faye Duncan (the late Bud), Emerson Mishler (Clara Bell), Robert Mishler (Pat), and her twin Cletus Mishler (Beverly); as well as extended family and friends.
Services will be Friday, March 3, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Musical selections will be performed by Mr. Stephen McCullough.
