Michael Steven McGuire, 48, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 21, 1969, to Charles McGuire and Marjorie "Marty" Swenson Branson.
Michael was a man of faith and attended Maryland Community Church. He was a police officer for the Terre Haute Police Department for 26 years, wearing the badge number 135. He was very proud to be a police officer and was very good at it. He loved serving and taking care of his community. He was the type of person who always strived to improve himself. He was a self-motivated, alpha male, type "A" kind of guy who took charge, especially around the holiday dinner table where he would talk about the local happenings and his job. He loved his family, they were his life. He enjoyed his big truck and tractor, and was proud of his collection of guns, guitars, and baseball cards. He also was a huge supporter and fan of the Indianapolis Colts. He was the race director of the Hot Pursuit 5K Run for 14 years. He fought and won the battle with cancer twice; the first time after being diagnosed in July 2016, and the second after being re-diagnosed in January 2017. He was wonderful - to know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McGuire; and grandparents, Bob and Charlotte Swenson.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly "Chilly" McGuire; his mother, Marjorie "Marty" Branson and her husband Dennis; stepmother, Kay McGuire; sons, Bryant Norton-McGuire and Kyle Norton-McGuire; daughters, Joslyn Norton-McGuire; brothers, Adam, Evan, John, and Chris McGuire and Jay Walton; an aunt who was like a mother, Shirley Roberson; his pig, Porkenstein; his cats, Rascal, Koala, and Noodle Bug; his dog, Emma; and all his brothers and sisters in blue.
