Margaret Jean (Rissler) Jackson, 93, formerly of Brazil, passed away March 12, 2017, at Westminster Village, in Terre Haute, where she had been living since 2012. She was born Aug 9, 1923, the oldest of two children born to Clyde and Alma (Byers) Rissler, near Reelsville.
Margaret graduated from Reelsville High School in 1941. She graduated from Union Hospital Nursing School in Terre Haute in 1944, as a registered nurse. She married Paul Glen Jackson on Oct. 17, 1947, who passed away 59 years later in 2007. Margaret spent her adult life in Brazil, raising her family and working as a surgery nurse at Clay County Hospital, until her retirement in 1983.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Alma Rissler; husband, Paul Jackson; and an infant daughter, Glenna Kay Jackson.
Margaret is survived by three children, Paula Spencer and husband John of Tennessee, Tom Jackson and wife Bette Jo of Missouri, and Roger Jackson and wife Angie of Kansas; one brother, Bob Rissler and wife Joan of Reelsville; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Brazil and later a member of Carbon Baptist Church in Carbon.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Ave., Brazil, Tuesday, March 14, 2017, from 4 until 7 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
