RUSKIN, Fla. - Katherine L. Ripple-Sontag, Kathy, was called home to God on Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Ruskin. She was born in Terre Haute, Ind., at St. Anonthy, to Wayne and Rose Ripple, on June 21, 1949.
She was a graduate of Wiley High School, class of 1967, and had two sons, Dennis and Doug Cummins. Dennis married Heather Cummins in 2011 and Doug married Jennifer Cummins in 1993. She dedicated her life to family and helping others through various charities including Navy and Marine Corps Relief and was a devout member of the Hope of Israel Ministries. She committed her life to the Lord, her family and helping others through her career with Prudential Insurance before she retired in 1990 and married her husband, Rudy L. Sontag, that same year, adding her stepson, Jeff Sontag and his wife Rebecca; and stepdaughter, Kathy Scherrer and her husband Jeff, to enlarge the family again. Her charities continued through several church activities, social events within the Manatee Park and assisting those less fortunate, to coordinating family events and gatherings in Indiana and Ruskin.
Kathy was the oldest of four children including Bruce Ripple, Vickie Brooks and Tammy Rooney. She is the proud grandmother to her eight grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and stepchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather, Doyle Piety.
She is survived by her husband, mother, brothers and sisters, sons and stepchildren.
A celebration of life event will be at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1111 Veterans Square, Terre Haute,from noon to 6 p.m. on May 10, 2017. The celebration is open to all friends and family who wish to share stories in celebrating the contributions and impact of Kathy's life. Please make donations to Hope of Israel Ministries, 14232 S.
