Joseph Charles Gruse, 96, of Clinton, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Union Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1921, in Atherton, to Joseph and Johanna Gruse.
Joseph is survived by his son, Dennis Gruse and companion April of Clinton; grandchildren, Carly Ward (Mark), Ian Gruse (Carissa), and Holly McQueary; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Valentine Gruse and George Gruse.
Joseph served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as a welder for many years and retired from Eli Lilly. Joseph liked to keep busy. He enjoyed farming and working in his shop. He lived his 96 years to the fullest and truly lived his life on his terms.
Joseph was a man that didn't want to be fussed over. Keeping with his wishes, graveside services will be private. He will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park. Roselawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at:
