Jane's Story

Jane McCampbell White, 92, Rockville, passed away at 2:16 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born Nov. 10, 1924, in Marshall, Ind., she was the daughter of Parke and Mabel Cummings McCampbell. She married John Richard White on Nov. 24, 1946, he survives.
Jane graduated from Marshall High School, received her bachelor of science at Indiana State Teachers College and her master's degree from Indiana State University. She taught school for 17 years, first at Rockville High School, then at Turkey Run High School.
She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rockville, where she served as elder, deacon, and clerk of session for many years and newsletter editor. Her other memberships include: National Education Association Retired, life member and delegate to National Conventions; Indiana State Teachers Association Retired, life member; Indiana Retired Teachers Association; Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority; Tri Kappa, while living in Terre Haute; Hedges Chapter 51, OES; Rockville Women's Club; ISU Alumni Association; Parke County Historical Society, Parke County Mental Health Association; NOW; and ACLU.
Jane loved her family, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, her cats, friends and pastors.
She is survived by her husband, John R. White of Rockville; four children, Elizabeth Ann Frank (Jeffrey) of Chicago, John Robert White (Linda) of Anchorage, Alaska, Barbara Jane White (Barney McClelland) of Yarmouth, Maine and Mary W. Delaney (James) of Carmel; eight grandchildren, Samora Frank Jones (Michael), Kimberley White Bessler (Mark), Christina White Fledderman (Kurt), Clinton John White (Anne), Nathan Ryan Frank (Lauren), Molly Elizabeth Delaney, Meghan Claire Delaney and Mackenzie Grace Delaney; seven great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brenna Fledderman, Mackenna Bessler, Garrett Bessler, Jonas L. Jones, Juno Elizabeth Jones and Dorothy Jane Frank.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and younger brother, Robert C. McCampbell in 2013.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 13, 2017, 2 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 130 S Market St., Rockville, with Mark and Wendy Olson officiating. Visitation is 1 p.m. Tuesday until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church, 130 S Market St., Rockville, IN 47872. Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, Rockville, assisted with arrangements.
