Ivan R. Wentz, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, in Union Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 12, 1931, in Farmersburg, Indiana, to Walter "Dutch" Wentz and Eva Jewell Wentz.
Ivan served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea, receiving two purple hearts. Ivan worked at the United States Penitentiary as a guard, and also owned and operated Wentz Printing for 47 years. Ivan was a life member of the VFW Post #972, a life member of the Marine Corps League and a member of the American Legion Post #104.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pauline Sears Wentz; his son, John Milton; his granddaughter, Melissa King; and his brother, Robert Wentz.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Carol Biggs Wentz; his sons, Ron Milton (Nancy) and Ivan Wentz II (Marliza); his daughter, Vickie King (Dugan); a daughter-in-law, Sandy Milton; his stepdaughters, Vickie Bays and Elizabeth Rooksberry; and his brother, Lee Wentz (Sharon). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brenda Swagerle, Troy Milton, Matthew Wentz, Michael King (Destiny), Samantha Wentz and Ashlyn Andrews (Mark); and several nieces and nephews.
In honor of Ivan's wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, Indiana, with Sister Betty Hopf officiating. Military honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post #972.
