Ira "Wayne" Hammond, 61, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born April 30, 1956, to Harold Gene and Norma Jean Hammond.
Wayne was an operator at Bemis Company, Inc. for 30 years. Wayne loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, riding his Harley motorcycle, fishing and golfing. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post 104. He graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1974. Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 41 years, Terri Hammond; his children, Brad Hammond and his wife Holly of Linton and Bryan Hammond and his wife Ashley of Terre Haute; and grandchildren, Bailey Hammond, Carter Hammond, Halle Hammond, Harper Hammond, Riley Cobble and Payton Cobble. He also is survived by his sisters, Donna Hollis and her husband Bruce of Clinton and Vicky Royer and her husband Bill of Colorado; his brother, Terry Hammond of Arizona; and his beloved dog, Bo Jackson. Survivors also include, sister-in-law, Susan Cottrell of Terre Haute; sister-in-law, Kathy Troost and her husband Roger of Washington; brother-in-law, Kenny Goetz and his wife Deann of Terre Haute; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Harold Thomas Hammond of Terre Haute.
Memorial services for Wayne are scheduled for Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday. Pastor Larry Snyder will be officiating.
