Harold Chilcote, 82 of Greencastle, passed away peacefully in the same home he was born in on Feb. 22, 2017. He was born Jan. 28, 1935, in his family home in rural Greencastle, to Leland and Agnes (Roberts) Chilcote.
He was drafted to serve his country in the United States Army, but was discharged at the untimely passing of his father. He was a life-long farmer and worked for many years prior to his retirement at IBM. He was a noted John Deere and antique collector. He had belonged to the Morton Free & Accepted Masons Lodge, and was a member of the John Deere Two Cylinder Club.
He is survived by his four children, Sheryle (Rick) Parrish of Greencastle, Teresa (Dennis) Fordice of Russellville, Sandra (Mark) Fordice of Russellville, Allen Chilcote of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) White, Laurel (Isaac) Nolan, Derick (Jill) Fordice, Macy Fordice, Cory (Nicole) Fordice, Lee (Lesli) Fordice and Jared (Shelby) Fordice; 12 great-grandchildren; and niece, Linda (Steve) Truax.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Betty Phipps; brother-in-law, Wayne Phipps; and nephew, Larry Phipps.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, in Hopkins Rector Funeral Home. Committal services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family by visiting:
