Dr. Jerry's Story
Dr. Jerry A. Jenkins, 84, of Farmersburg, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017, in his home surrounded by family. He was born June 30, 1933, to Walter E. Jenkins of Crawfordsville and Ruby (Baldridge) Jenkins of Brazil. Jerry served in the U.S. Army for 33 years and retired as an infantry colonel in 1984. He received his Doctorate in Education in 1967 from Indiana State where he taught statistics. After his tenure at ISU, Jerry became an education researcher for Education Testing Service in Atlanta, and Princeton, N.J. Jerry enjoyed his family, golf and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol (Jeanie) Jenkins; his daughters, Patricia Drake (Arley) and Paula Dempsey (Larry); his son, Richard (Pamela); one brother, Walter Jenkins (Tiki) of Kansas City, Mo; six grandchildren, Shaun, Michele, Matthew (Cari), Heidi, Alex and Michael; and eight great-grandchildren. Jerry also is survived by his close friend of nearly 80 years, Bob Rogerson of Seelyville.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his brother, Bob Kuykendall; and sister, Mary Ellen Leonard.
