BRAZIL - Donald A. Nichols, 79, of Brazil, lost his battle with cancer on July 16, 2017 at Exceptional Living Center of Brazil. Don was born March 2, 1938 in Brazil, the son of the late Frank and Dica Marie (Reese) Nichols.
He attended Ashboro High School and served our country in the United States Army from 1955 until 1958. Don worked for Turbines Inc. and built PT6 Turbine Engines for them until his recent retirement in May of 2017, after 36 years of service. Don married Teresa L. Raley on Dec. 18, 1992. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his grandchildren, bowling, golfing, sport shooting, and motorcycle riding with his sons.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Teresa L. Nichols of Brazil; four sons, Troy (Moria) Nichols, Donald (Tara) Nichols, Michael (Erica) Nichols, and William Rogers; one daughter, Heather Rogers; 11 grandchildren, Grace, Ashley, Conner, Brendon, Chloe, Clayton, Hunter, Parker, Maddox, Savannah, and Devin; as well as extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 7 p.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. At the request of the family, cremation will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northview Marching Band or the Northview Football Team.
