D. Arlene's Story
D. Arlene Wetherboldt Whitehurst, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away at 2:15 a.m. April 20, 2017, in her home. She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Jasper County, Ill., living there until moving to Terre Haute, in October 1976, and living there the remainder of her life.
She attended Jasper County grade and high school. She was a hairdresser, florist, farmer's wife, and owner of Newton Flower Shop from 1967 to 1979. She and her husband Glenn were farmers until his health failed and he passed away Sept. 11, 1976.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; daughter, Karen Fink; grandson, Brandon Whitehurst; great-grandson, Braden Van Stralen; and sons-in-law, Lee Fink and Floyd Hartke.
She is survived by sons, Dennis Whitehurst of Valejo, Calif., and Tom Whitehurst his wife Sally of Terre Haute; daughter, Linda Hartke of Siesta Key, Fla.; grandchildren, Dr. Brett Fink of Carmel, Todd Fink of St. Paul, Minn., Joshua Hartke of Champaign, Ill., Jared Hartke of Charleston, S.C., and Shana Van Stralen of Malibu, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Laurel Fink of Carmel, Madison and Simon Fink of St. Paul, Case Hartke of Charleston, and Anthony Van Stralen; half sister, Kathy Tesch and her husband Aaron of Cartersville, Ga., and Joan Hanson of Albuquerque, N.M.; and half brothers, Mike Cornwell and his wife Tami of Effingham, Ill., and Bob Cornwell and his wife Connie of Montana, Ill.
A visitation is scheduled today, April 24, 2017, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., Terre Haute. Graveside services are scheduled at 11 a.m. CDT in Riverside Cemetery, Newton, Ill., on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Mike Knepper will officiate. Online condolences can be made at:
