Cathleen's Story

Cathleen Carrithers, 92, of Carmi, Ill., and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was born on May 23, 1924, in Terre Haute, to Joseph Guire and Emma Monninger Guire.
Cathleen had been a devoted member of North Terre Haute First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She accomplished reading the Bible 20 times. She retired from the Vigo County School Corporation, having taught second grade at Terre Town Elementary School, where she was named Teacher of the Month.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; and a brother, Wayne Guire.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Berry Fisher; stepchildren, Carolyn Carrithers, Joann Carrithers, and Richard Carrithers; a sister, Colleen Beecher; a sister-in-law, Barbara Guire; grandchildren, Rachelle Waller, Kyle (Kendra) Fisher, Kale (Andrea) Fisher, and Devon Fisher; a stepgrandson, Andy Carrithers; and great-grandchildren, Scarlett Waller, Savannah (Justin) Tedrow, Sheltann Waller, Kyler Fisher, Elijah Fisher, and Emeree Fisher.
Cathleen enjoyed, sewing, making crafts, and crossword puzzles; but she will fondly be remembered for her love of baking and cooking for her family.
