Carolyn Sue (Morlan) Houck, 77, of Brazil, passed away June 28, 2017, at Union Hospital. Sue was born May 23, 1940, in Parke County, the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Vaught) Morlan.
She graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1958. Sue met Bill Houck Dec. 7, 1956, on a blind date. Later that evening he proposed to her and she accepted. Two years later they married at the Indianapolis Church of God, on Oct. 25, 1958. Sue worked at Clay County Hospital for several years as a cook. Sue and Bill attend Berea Christian Church, in Brazil.
Sue enjoyed cross stitch, reading, traveling, playing solitaire on the computer, working word search and baking. Most of all she loved being Nanny and Nan to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Morlan; a daughter-in-law, Katreana Houck; and a sister, Joan James.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Houck of Brazil; three children, Karen Osborn and husband Bill of Brazil, William A. Houck II of Brazil and Kevin Lee Houck of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Sara Brown and husband Garth, Jacob Osborn and fiancée Kristi Higgins, Brandon William Houck, Andrea Lamb and husband Matt, Shannon Houck (Travis Zacha) and Peyton Houck; great-grandchildren, Sydni Brown, Lilla Brown, Harley Rose Houck, Zoe Anderson, Hallie Anderson, Bexley Lamb, Teegan Patton and Gentry Patton; a sister, Shirley Vanes; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, Saturday, July 1, 2017, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, Saturday, at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Smith officiating.
