Carol's Story

MARSHALL, Ill. - Carol Ann Bridwell Davidson Bennett, 86, of Marshall, passed away 9:25 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
She retired after 20 years of service as the administrative assistant to the plant manager of the Velsicol Chemical Corporation in Marshall.
Carol, referred to as Mom, Gram and Mum, was born Dec.25, 1930,in Bedford, Ind., the daughter of Clint and Lila Tucker Bridwell. Her husband, Robert Bennett, preceded her in death on June 6, 2015. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin; a son-in-law, Woody Fitzjarrald; a grandson, Woody Fitzjarrald II; brothers, Vic, Phil and Ken Bridwell; and two sisters, Margaret Clendenning and Rose Armstrong.
Surviving are her children, Paula Renner of Sarasota, Fla., Alane (Jim) White of Marshall, Cristie Fitzjarrald of Marshall, Candy (Michael) Painter of Cincinnati, Sally (Jeff) Mallory of Marshall, Paul "Bud" (Amy) Davidson of Sarasota, and Matt Davidson of Champaign, Ill.; stepchildren, Robert C. (Becky) Bennett of Marshall and Sally (Tom) Murphy of Marshall and their families; a sister, Twila (Dan) Hall of Austin, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends that she felt so blessed to have as well as her family.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she had served on various committees and was a member of the Burnsides Guild. Most importantly she devoted her life to her family.
Services in honor of her life will be 4 p.m. CDT Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until service time at the church Saturday. It is requested of those who desire that memorial contributions be made to the maintenance fund of the Zion Cemetery or to Marshall Food Bank. Online condolences are being accepted at:
